Recap
This past week we notched two
more victories – Chariho 11-8 and Warwick Vets 13-5. Our
record is now 3-0 and we are tied for first place with Portsmouth in our
division. The rain on Thursday provided
an opportunity to review the video from the Chariho game, evaluate some of our
strengths and weaknesses and apply what we learned in practice AND during the
Vets game. A big thanks to Guerrino Boni from Olympic Physical Therapy who worked with the team on Tuesday and
provided some additional warm-up exercises focused on strengthening and preparing our
ankles, knees and hips for lacrosse.
This seems to be working as the number of ankle complaints has decreased
since Tuesday. A big thanks to the O’Connell, Peterson, Harrison and Keller families for providing drinks / snacks on the bus rides home, and
to everyone who brought salads,
bread and dessert to the Pasta Party on Thursday.
This Week’s Plans
We have one away game this week
on Friday against Westerly (directions). The format for this game is reversed – JV will play first at 4pm followed by
the varsity game at 5:30 pm.
Practice will be at the usual time Monday through Thursday 3:45 – 5:45. We will also be practicing on Sunday, April 22 from 3-5 pm as we have three games
the week after vacation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The weather is supposed to be beautiful this
week – almost summer like (weather).
Arch Supports
Generally, cleats do
not provide adequate arch support, which leads to ankle, knee, hip and back
pain. Sam Harrington’s mom is a physical
therapist and has provided a link to some
inexpensive arch support inserts that have helped Sam with joint pain. Erica is now using these and has noticed immediate
results. It helps give their feet extra
support to prevent ankle knee and back pain. The inserts are inexpensive and easy to
insert. Mrs. Harrison has offered to help insert the pads if you need it. The company is Hapad- websiteWWW.Hapad.com. 1-800-232-9427 order
