Recap
We are ½ way through
the season and played our toughest competition this past week. With home wins against Tiverton and
Middletown, we ended the week with a road win against a tough Portsmouth team
in difficult weather conditions. As we
start the 2nd half of the season we need to stay focused and work even harder as each and every team we play will
be out to defeat us. I was in a meeting
the other day and noticed a poster on the wall with big letters that said “MAKE IT HAPPEN” which (for obvious
reasons) made me think of the team. The
accompanying quote read:
"Greatness is not in where we
stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the
wind and sometimes against it—but sail we must and not drift, nor lie at
anchor." —Oliver Wendell Holmes
What’s
happened to this point is irrelevant - our season starts today. At
the beginning of the season, the team decided on several goals. To achieve these goals we must keep our vision clear and focused, and work extra hard at practice on all the little things we need to improve
upon.
A big thanks to the McKanna and Tucker families for providing drinks / snacks on the bus ride home
after the game, and DeCubellis family for providing the much appreciated hot chocolate during the Portsmouth
game.

to coach Ken with their academic information verified by the school no later
than Friday May 11, 2012. The past two years, we have had Narragansett
athletes selected for this honor: 2011

consider applying for this award.
PLEASE GET THIS TO ME
ASAP IF YOU WANT TO BE NOMINATED FOR THIS AWARD
Important Dates
There are some upcoming dates you
need to be aware of:
JV Tournament – Tentatively scheduled for May
19, 2012 (rain date May 20, 2012). I need to know how many JV players
are available to play ASAP to determine if we should participate.
Coaches Select Game (formerly the all-star game)
– June 4, 2012 – location TBA. After each varsity game, coaches
from each team select an impact offensive and defensive player from the
opposing team as a candidate for this game. At the end of the season, players
receiving the most votes are selected to play.
All-Division Awards Banquet – June 13, 2012, 6pm at the
West Valley Inn. Tickets will be approximately $20 per person.
All players / parents are invited. I need a head count as soon as
possible to reserve seats for Narragansett.
Player
Stats / Game Pictures
Parents – if you have been keeping statistics during the games,
please provide this information to me so I can verify each players stats.
I have been reviewing video from each game to verify stats for accuracy, but
your input is a good cross check to verify my results. Player stats can
be viewed at (MaxPreps).
Also, if anyone has been taking still photos of the action at our games, please
send these to me so I can use them on the web site. Thanks to all of you
for your continued support.
