Welcome to the 2013 NHS Girls Lacrosse Season

We are very excited to start the 2013 season and are looking forward to an exciting year!  There are some changes that affect us this year we would like to share with you:

  1. Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) conducts periodic realignments of high school sports teams in an attempt to keep athletic contests  fair and competitive.  For girls lacrosse, the realignment period is every 2 years.  Realignment takes many factors into consideration including historical win-loss records, weighted by the division they played in, and the total enrollment for the school.  This year there will be 3 divisions for girls lacrosse.  NHS has been placed in Division 3.  Due to our success the past several years, we felt we would be a strong division 2 contender.  Unfortunately the period of time to contest the decision had expired, and NHS will remain in division 3 for the next two years.
  2. There is a shortage of referees this year.  High school referees must be certified by US Lacrosse.  Many referees also work the collegiate level.  The shortage of referees has resulted in limiting the total number of RIIL high school games played on any one day is six. In order to get all high school games played, weekend games (Saturday and Sunday) have also been scheduled. To accommodate the collegiate schedule, RIIL has also agreed NOT to hold any contests on Wednesday's.   Please check our schedule (see link at top of page) to determine when weekend games are scheduled. We realize some of you may have jobs and/or other commitments on weekends. We will keep the schedule up-to-date so you can plan accordingly. If you have a conflict that cannot be changed, let us know as soon as possible.

We have been working very hard with Mr. Adham to solidify our schedule.  At this point we have added 4 non-league games to our schedule to keep our level of play consistent with previous years.

Please review the REQUIRED PAPERWORK links on the right side of the webpage. All athletes must have the ASSUMPTION OF RISK and a valid physical (dated later than June 1, 2012)on file with RIIL in order to play.
